The shadow beast launched its first attack, its massive claws sweeping towards them like a broom. Number Two, light as a feather, leaped onto the beast's back and, wielding his sword, delivered a devastating blow to the beast's heart. The woman, not to be outdone, raised her hand and unleashed several icicles, shooting them like arrows, all striking the beast's eyes. The beast howled in pain, shaking wildly like a drunken man, nearly throwing Number Two off. However, he reacted quickly, gripping the beast's scales tightly, and with a final burst of strength, plunged his sword deeper into the beast's body. The woman also increased her magical output, sending even more icicles flying towards the beast. Finally, the beast collapsed to the ground with a thunderous crash, turning into a puff of black smoke and vanishing in a flash. Number Two and the woman exchanged a smile, both letting out a sigh of relief. Just then, the surrounding air suddenly turned bitterly cold, and the once clear sky instantly became overcast. Number Two became alert, gripping her sword tightly, while the woman raised her hands, preparing to cast her spell again. A figure in black robes slowly emerged from the darkness, radiating a powerful aura.
"You think you can get away unscathed by defeating my Shadow Beast?" The black-robed man's voice was as sinister as if it came from hell. Number Two roared, "Who are you? Why are you sending a demon beast to wreak havoc here?" The black-robed man sneered, "I am the Dark Demon Messenger. This area is about to become a dark land, and you will be the first sacrifices." The woman scoffed, "Dream on! We won't sit idly by and wait to die." Number Two continued, "No matter who you are, you will not leave alive today." Upon hearing this, the black-robed man threw his head back and laughed, the laughter echoing in the air, sending chills down everyone's spines. Suddenly, he flicked his sleeve, and countless black flying insects swarmed towards the two. Each of these insects flickered with an eerie red light, like vengeful imps.
The woman quickly formed hand seals, creating an ice wall in front of her to try and block the flying insects. Number Two rushed towards the black-robed man, attempting to break through the defenses and defeat him. However, the flying insects pierced through the ice wall, forcing the woman to continuously strengthen her magical defenses. Just as Number Two was about to reach the black-robed man, black vines suddenly appeared beneath his feet, tightly binding his legs. The black-robed man waved his hand, and the vines hoisted Number Two high into the air.
Just then, the woman bit her finger, a drop of blood falling to the ground, and she chanted an ancient incantation. Instantly, a torrent of scorching flames erupted from the ground, burning the black-robed man and the flying insects. The black-robed man's expression changed, and he hastily retreated, the insects being consumed by the flames. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the woman used magic to sever the vines and save Number Two. The two stood together again, facing the black-robed man with unwavering resolve.
The woman sneered, "Don't be so arrogant!" With that, she shot ice shards at the man in black, and Number Two rushed forward as well. But the man in black simply waved his sleeve, blocking the attack and forcing the two back several steps. Just as the man in black was about to make a further move, a golden light suddenly descended from the sky, directly illuminating him. "Phew, finally it's over." The woman breathed a sigh of relief, her face showing exhaustion.
Number Two patted her on the shoulder, "Thanks to you, otherwise we would have really been doomed here today."
However, before they could relax for long, the surrounding space suddenly distorted. They looked around warily and saw a huge runic array slowly rising from the ground.
"What is this? Is there another trick up your sleeve?" The woman clenched her fists nervously.
At this moment, a clear voice came from the sky: "Outsiders, you have triggered the ultimate trial of this place. If you can pass it, you will obtain unparalleled treasures."
Number Two and the woman exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with both worry and anticipation.
"Let's give it a try then." Number Two stepped into the formation first. The woman gritted her teeth and followed.
Within the formation, light flashed, and various illusory attacks rained down. They cooperated effectively; the woman used magic to create shields to defend against the attacks, while Number Two sought out the illusions' weaknesses to counterattack. After a fierce battle, they finally broke through all the illusions.
With a crisp sound, a treasure radiating a strange light appeared before them. They picked it up, exchanged smiles, and knew their adventure had been very fruitful. The black-robed man was terrified and turned to flee. It turned out that the mysterious force guarding this place had sensed the danger and come to their aid. As the golden light grew stronger, the black-robed man finally disappeared. Number Two and the woman looked at the sky, knowing that the crisis was temporarily averted.
