Chapter 213 No Chance
Chapter 213 No Chance
Zhang Jianjun picked up Qiao Sanli and took a taxi back to the villa. He glanced at his watch and said, "Sanli, are you hungry? Wait on the sofa for a bit, I'll quickly cook a couple of dishes, and we'll be eating soon."
"I'll help you!" Qiao Sanli washed her hands and went into the kitchen with her.
Two simple green vegetables can be prepared quickly, and it's even faster if two people work together.
As Qiao Sanli sat down at the dining table to eat, she suddenly felt a little dazed, as if everything before her eyes had happened before, only history was repeating itself.
"What's wrong?" Zhang Jianjun waved his hand in front of Qiao Sanli when he saw her stunned.
Qiao Sanli blinked. "It's nothing, I just suddenly felt like the world was a bit unreal. Maybe I was a little tired from the car ride and started hallucinating."
"Then after you finish eating, go upstairs and rest early."
It was past eight o'clock when they finished eating, and Qiao Sanli got up and went upstairs to rest. Zhang Jianjun had bought a complete set of furniture, appliances, and bedding; the entire house was almost brand new. There were too many rooms, so Zhang Jianjun hired two housekeepers to help clean and arrange everything.
Lying on the soft bed, Qiao Sanli couldn't fall asleep. She tossed and turned for an hour and a half, but Zhang Jianjun still hadn't come upstairs. Qiao Sanli sighed, got up, and went to her desk to write down the itinerary and plan for the trip to Shanghai. She didn't feel sleepy until after midnight and finally went to bed.
The next morning, Zhang Jianjun opened the door and saw Qiao Sanli standing there. "Brother Jun, it's time to get up! Breakfast is ready!"
"Coming right away!" Zhang Jianjun closed the door again and put on his clothes.
After getting dressed and washing up, Zhang Jianjun came downstairs, where Qiao Sanli had set out two breakfasts on the dining table.
Qiao Sanli peeled an egg and handed it to Zhang Jianjun, then peeled one for herself. "Brother Jun, do you have any plans for today?"
Zhang Jianjun looked up at Qiao Sanli, "I'm free today. The meeting starts tomorrow. Is there anywhere you'd like to go?"
"I want to go to an amusement park! I've never actually been to an amusement park before! I want to go, because if I don't go now, I won't be able to play anymore in a few years." Qiao Sanli said with some anticipation. She had always known about amusement parks, but had never been to one. Now that she was in Shanghai, she wanted to experience it.
Zhang Jianjun agreed, "No problem, this request is a bit too low. A trip to the amusement park is no big deal. We'll leave after we finish eating! Let's go to Yunjiang Amusement Park, is that alright?"
Qiao Sanli smiled and nodded, "I don't know which one is better, let's go to Yunjiang Amusement Park that you mentioned!"
Arriving at the entrance by taxi, Zhang Jianjun naturally took Qiao Sanli's hand, and the two stood side by side at the park entrance. This scene was like time flowing backward, or like another cycle.
There were many amusement rides available, so Zhang Jianjun asked Qiao Sanli, "What should we do first?"
"I want to try them all! Let's start with the nearest place!"
The nearest ride is the carousel. When you're out having fun, you should let loose. What's wrong with just two adults?
Zhang Jianjun still didn't get on the rocking horse because Qiao Sanli stopped him. "Brother Jun, this doesn't look like one we can ride. Let's try another one!"
Fortunately, the pirate ship was still rideable. "Brother Soldier, let's play on this!"
Ultimately, appearances reflect character; if people look alike, they tend to think similarly. Zhang Jianjun nodded expectantly, "Let's go, let's get in line!"
"I'm not playing anymore, let's go home!" Fifteen minutes later, Qiao Sanli walked down the steps, her legs trembling. "With so many people here, are we just paying to suffer?"
“There are also many less thrilling attractions to see…” Zhang Jianjun hadn’t finished speaking when he saw a six or seven-year-old girl sitting on the edge of the overpass railing. It seemed someone had pushed her, and she tumbled over the railing. Immediately, a hand reached out from inside and grabbed her pants. But the little girl pulled her halfway out, and she managed to stay upright by bracing herself against the railing.
It was a woman, about thirty years old, with very little strength in her hands. Even leaning forward, she couldn't pull herself up, and she felt her hands were about to give way. As soon as she regained her footing, she cried out for help: "Help! Someone help me! Help!"
The overpass was six meters high, and it would be very dangerous for the little girl to fall from it. Zhang Jianjun immediately ran in that direction, and Qiao Sanli quickly followed.
There were people on the overpass who wanted to help, but they were in a bad position and couldn't exert much force or take over from the woman.
Zhang Jianjun roughly estimated that if he caught the force from below, the little girl would most likely get hurt if he didn't get injured. However, he couldn't dissipate the force from the little girl, since she was already quite big.
He glanced at the steel pillars under the overpass, steel pipe pillars about ten centimeters high, but about a meter away from the little girl. The woman really couldn't hold on any longer. Zhang Jianjun didn't have time to think further and immediately climbed the steel pillar.
With fluid movements, like an acrobat, he climbed to the top in a few seconds. Just then, he heard someone say, "I can't hold on any longer." The pale hand slipped, and Zhang Jianjun kicked the steel pillar with all his might. Using the reaction force, he quickly approached the little girl and grabbed her leg with his other hand. The two of them then swung on the bridge like a swing.
"Soldier! Be careful, soldier!" Qiao Sanli, who had rushed downstairs, was so frightened that she broke out in a cold sweat!
Taking a deep breath, Zhang Jianjun slowly lifted the little girl up until she was within reach of the people on the bridge.
"Alright, alright, you can let go now. I've got it tight, there's no problem!" A burly man on the bridge grabbed the little girl's leg, and Zhang Jianjun let go. The man then pulled the little girl up.
Without the weight, Zhang Jianjun didn't climb upwards. Instead, he moved sideways to the side of the steel pillar and climbed down along it.
Qiao Sanli immediately rushed over and hugged Zhang Jianjun, "Brother Jun, you scared me to death!"
"Alright, I only went up because I was confident, don't worry!" Zhang Jianjun gently patted Qiao Sanli's back with one hand and gently stroked her hair with the other.
"That won't do! What will I do if something happens to you!"
Qiao Sanli was really scared; her body was still trembling.
"Okay, I won't take any more risks in the future!"
Qiao Sanli gradually calmed down, looked up at Zhang Jianjun, and said, "Let's go! I want to go back!"
Just then, a loud round of applause came from the overpass, "Clap! Clap! Clap!" Everyone was whispering about Zhang Jianjun's amazing arm strength.
The woman called out from upstairs, "Brother, wait for me down here, I'll be right down to thank you!"
Zhang Jianjun also shouted, "No need, we're going back!"
The two of them, of course, did not wait for the woman. Zhang Jianjun felt that he had not seen wrong; someone had pushed the little girl, but he had not seen clearly who pushed her. Perhaps the little girl herself knew. No matter how you looked at it, it was troublesome, and he did not want to get involved in such a thing.
After leaving the park, the two took a taxi back to the villa. Qiao Sanli never let go of Zhang Jianjun's hand, holding it as if Zhang Jianjun would disappear if she let go.
That night, just as Zhang Jianjun was about to go to sleep, there was a knock on the bedroom door. When he opened it, Qiao Sanli, dressed in a light nightgown, stood prettily in the doorway. "Brother Jun, I can't sleep!"
Qiao Sanli understood Chang Xingyu's feelings. Chang Xingyu once said that life is very short and accidents can happen at any time. If you can't do what you want to do and love who you want to love in time, you may never have the chance!
