Chapter 541: Majik Pal
Chapter 541: Majik Pal
Like Jerry Wan, Royta did not become a guard.
Royta thought he had a significant advantage in the ring as a Berserker. Previously, at Carone, he had been a member of the Morning Star, and compared to his peers, he felt he had more combat experience. He thought he would be even more formidable than the other students when he returned to the academy.
But he forgot one thing.
This is Abersgar, and genius is not the pinnacle of this magic academy.
Royta was naturally eliminated. It wasn't that he wasn't strong enough, but he had no sense of protection at all. He thought this was a confrontational match.
After Roita, Norvia also came on the court.
She didn't have much time to stay at the guard post, so her movements were quick, accurate and ruthless, and she controlled the space on the ring. She eliminated several applicants who wanted to use tricks to get away with it, and then left the ring.
Nolvia found that people automatically made way for her.
Siren whistled at her.
"Full fire, Nolvia."
Norvia was helpless.
"We're in a hurry today."
Simanen walked side by side with her.
"How are you like Liz? She was pretending though, you weren't hiding it, but you're not usually this strict. I'm not surprised because I work with you and this is the first time they've seen you in this form. After today you're going to be famous in the Guard."
Nolvia chuckled.
"Wasn't I famous enough back then? I was the first sophomore to join the Guard Department. I thought everyone knew me by then."
Simanen looked at Norvia in disbelief.
"Nolvaya, have you become very aggressive recently?"
"Because I'm a little nervous, Teacher Simanen."
"What are you nervous about?"
Norvia didn't answer, as they had already reached a junction where they needed to separate.
Norvia said goodbye to Siren, and then she walked steadily towards the administrative building where the chairman's office was.
She would soon meet Magik Pal. How much harm could this teacher, whom Teacher Abel feared so much, cause them? Why was he so dangerous?
Norvia will not tolerate such risks.
When it breaks, it breaks.
She will bear all the consequences.
……
"Hello, hello. I'm Majik Pal. I assume you're Laili, right? The dean has already explained everything to me. Could you please help me familiarize myself with the duties of the chairman? Thank you for your hard work."
Majik Pal spoke enthusiastically.
Nolvaya shook hands with him. Surprisingly, Majik Pal was a young man about the same size as Suha.
He comes across as a smarter, more philistine version of Suha, annoying perhaps, but not dangerous at all.
Norvia suppressed all her expressions and let Majik familiarize herself with the duties of the chairman as if she knew nothing.
Majik's attitude was very humble, even with a hint of flattery in it.
Norvia took over the work from him and observed Majik Pal silently. No matter what, she could not see anything unusual.
By the evening, Majik had gradually adapted to the role of chairman.
Norvia found no reason to kill Majik. In fact, she could understand why Julia chose Majik as the chairman.
Majik is a businessman through and through. He is very contradictory, and this contradiction becomes a flaw in his character, but this flaw makes him not dangerous and he is very unique.
This uniqueness meant that he was unlike Garcia. Norvia could sense the god's sinister intentions in Garcia's presence, but Magik had nothing in common with any of them. Magik Pal lacked the common traumas common to all social groups. He was not noble, and he was somewhat despicable, but overall, he was just a cunning, ordinary person.
This confused Nolvia.
It was already dark, and the cold wind whistled against the glass, a sound like a groan.
Norvia's work was done, and she hesitated between leaving and staying, but it was Majik who broke the silence first.
"Laili, I think I should explain. I can see that you are observing me and you have a bad impression of me. But this is the first time we meet, and I think the reason you are like this is because of your former advisor, Abel.
I don't know why Ms. Abel attacked me. I just arrived at Abersgar College this year, and we had never spoken before Abel attacked me. I met Abel at Abersgar's new teacher welcome party. I have a good memory, and I knew there was such a time magician at the academy.
I'm an astrologer, and our department's building is far from the Time Magic Court, so we had no connection. But that day, she suddenly called me "Pal" on the street, and when I answered, she rushed over and knocked me down.
I think she must have mistaken me for someone else, but she never came to see me once while I was recovering from my injury. This is understandable, as she is a noble, and nobles are like this."
Majik didn't lie. Unless he could fool himself, or he was a born liar.
Nolvia stared at Majik and asked a question.
"Why did you take the initiative to apply to be our instructor?"
Majik Pal answered quickly.
"This is what my astrology tells me. I became an astrologer to make money. Before I was hired by Abersig Academy, I worked outside and had some success, but for better development, I came to Abersig. I wanted to make money, and my astrology led me to the 'Send You Home' team.
I have the ethics of a teacher. If I could become your instructor, I would be responsible for your safety. My goal was simply to make money. My astrology has always been accurate. Although I wasn't your instructor, I did receive compensation from Abersig. During the months I wasn't working, my salary continued to be paid, so I was on paid leave.
My astrologer pointed me to your team again, and I applied again. Now I am the chairman. There are more ways to make money.
I have no ill will towards you, nor towards Abel. But I don't know why you all treat me this way. I don't want to cause trouble for myself. I've recently learned about the current situation of the academy, and I think I should explain to you that I think you may have recognized the wrong person. Or did Abel see something about my future?
"Why did you come to this conclusion?"
"Abel's attitude, and your vigilance towards me this afternoon. Abel is a time magician, right? She's a genius, so I think it's normal for her to be able to see the future. But this is unfair to me. Is the future necessarily what Abel sees? Will I definitely act according to the established trajectory?
I'm an astrologer, and I believe the future is constantly changing. The flapping of butterfly wings can cause the monsoon, and the slightest deviation in magic can change the course of history. It's disrespectful to trap me in a future where I don't even know what direction it's heading.
By the end, Majik's expression was unusually serious. He was somewhat resentful. He was suddenly attacked, and then faced hostility upon his return. He was completely bewildered. Even if he had guessed the truth, he would still feel wronged. He was simply seeking wealth. He would not do anything to harm others, and he would not actively touch anything that would endanger himself.
Maybe he is not a good person in the future that Abel sees, but is he going to be nailed to the pillar of shame now?
Nolvia did not respond to Majik's emotions. She looked at Majik calmly. She was less confused from now on.
"If you can, can you tell me why you want to make money?"
Majik was stunned. He hesitated for a moment, then spoke firmly.
"I know it's easier to disarm you by sharing some of my tragic experiences, but I don't want to lie about this. I just love making money.
While I'm not aristocrat, my parents are merchants, and my family has always been relatively well-off. I have no painful memories and have always lived a happy life. My parents love me, and our family lives in harmony. I became an astrologer on my own. I didn't inherit my parents' fortune, but I've earned enough to support myself, and I can save some of the extra money to buy gifts for my parents. I'm talented, and my astrological predictions are quite accurate. I don't have any obsessive beliefs; making money is just a hobby. Making money is great, but if I can't, it's fine. If things don't work out, I'll just go home to my parents.
I often use astrology to explore ways to make money. On the one hand, this can verify the accurate probability of astrology, and on the other hand, I can make a little money.
I really can't imagine how bad I would have to be to make you so defensive against me. I also can't imagine what would make me bad."
"You are the chairman now."
"Temporarily. I will return to my original position when the previously unconscious chairman wakes up."
