Chapter 1245 Please Have Tea
Chapter 1245 Please Have Tea
It was noon, and Seckt had just finished a meeting with the Italian ambassador and was about to head to his favorite German restaurant.
Just as the special car was driving through a quiet street, the situation suddenly changed.
Suddenly, two black cars drove out from the front and blocked the middle of the road. Almost at the same time, three cars appeared from the back and surrounded Seckt's car.
"Be careful!" The accompanying guard immediately became alert and instinctively took out his gun.
The driver slammed on the brakes and the car stopped in the middle of the road.
"Keep calm," Seckt said, looking at the cars in front and behind him. "They are all Chinese cars. It seems someone wants to talk to me."
As soon as he finished speaking, the door of a car in front opened and two men in plain clothes walked out. Their posture and behavior showed that they were professionally trained personnel.
"Sekt's envoys," one of them stepped forward and said in perfect German, "someone wants to see you."
"Oh?" Sekt raised his eyebrows. "I'm curious, who invited me in this way?"
"You'll know when you get there," the other party said calmly, "Don't worry, we won't hurt you. This is just an informal meeting."
Sekt's guards remained on alert, never putting down their guns.
"Gentlemen," Seckt turned to his men and said, "Put away your guns. Since they are our Chinese friends, we should give them some respect."
He looked back at the person who had spoken: "But I'm curious, why do you have to do it this way? Wouldn't a formal invitation be better?"
"Because some things are not suitable to be said in formal occasions," the other party showed a meaningful smile, "Mr. Special Envoy should understand this."
Sekt was silent for a moment, then suddenly laughed: "Interesting. Looks like we have to change the place for lunch today."
He turned to his entourage and said, "You guys go back to the embassy first. Just say I have something urgent to do."
"But Your Excellency..." the captain of the guard wanted to say something else.
"It's okay," Seckt waved his hand, "Since our Chinese friends invited us in this way, they must have something important to discuss. As guests, we always have to give the host some face, don't we?"
Seckt sat elegantly in the back seat of the car, as if he were at home on the sofa. He crossed his legs and looked at the interior of the car slowly.
"What an exquisite interior," he said in a relaxed tone, "This special bulletproof glass and the secret compartment under the seat should all be custom-made, right?"
The young man sitting next to him looked normal, but there was a hint of shock in his eyes.
"And this," Seckt pointed to the door handle, "it looks ordinary, but it's actually modified. Once locked, it can't be opened from the inside. I've only seen this kind of design on CIA vehicles."
He turned to look at the young man with a smile on his face: "So, I guess I'm chatting with my friends from the Chinese CIA now?"
The young man remained calm on the surface, but his eyes betrayed his surprise.
"Don't be so surprised," Seckt continued, "Your way of doing things is very unique. You encircle them from all sides without appearing aggressive. On the surface, it's a hijacking, but in fact, it gives the other party enough respect. This kind of detail is also the style of the CIA."
He looked at the street scene passing by quickly outside the window: "Besides, in Beilong City, apart from the CIA, who else would dare to "invite" a foreign envoy to have tea so blatantly?"
The young man finally spoke: "Mr. Seckt is indeed worthy of his reputation."
"You're flattered," Seckt said with a smile, "but in our line of work, we always have to be more careful. But I'm curious, who is so anxious to meet me? So anxious that he can't even wait for a formal invitation."
There was a brief silence in the car.
&34;You will soon find out,&34; the young man said finally.
Sekt nodded and looked out the window again. He knew that at this moment, the best response was to remain silent. After all, in the game of intelligence agencies, silence was sometimes more powerful than words.
Moreover, he was indeed very curious about who was coming to see him in this way. At this delicate moment, the other party's identity might be more worthy of attention than what he was going to say.
The car finally stopped in front of a solemn building complex. Through the car window, Seckt saw the five golden characters "Central Intelligence Agency" above the gate gleaming in the sun.
The moment the car door opened, a young man in a dark suit and gold-rimmed glasses was already waiting there. His movements revealed a special kind of elegance that could only be cultivated in the highest-level intelligence agencies.
"Special Envoy Seckt," the young man bowed slightly and said in standard German, "I am An Yu, Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. I am sorry to invite you in this way."
Seckt calmly got out of the car and straightened his suit: "Thank you, Deputy Director An. But I must say that your invitation method is indeed very...special."
An Yu smiled politely: "This is what Director Yan meant. He thinks that some conversations should not leave any formal traces."
"Yan Shuangying?" Seckt raised his eyebrows. "The most mysterious intelligence chief in China?"
"Yes," An Yu nodded, "Director Yan would like to invite you to have a cup of tea and talk about...what happened yesterday."
Sekt looked at the building in front of him thoughtfully: "So, this is the legendary 'Dragon's Nest'? The headquarters of China's highest intelligence agency?"
"Mr. Seckt is indeed well-informed," An Yu smiled, "He even knows our internal code name."
"As someone in our line of work," Seckt followed An Yu toward the building, "we always have to know more. But I'm curious, why is Director Yan so interested in what happened yesterday?"
"This question," An Yu pushed up his glasses, "I'm afraid you won't know the answer until you meet Director Yan. Please follow me."
Sekt nodded and followed An Yu into the mysterious building. He knew that the conversation that was about to begin would probably be more interesting than the fight with Sergei yesterday.
After all, the fact that China's most mysterious intelligence chief could show up in person meant that the significance of this matter was obviously much heavier than he had imagined.
Sekt followed An Yu into the hall and was immediately attracted by the scene before him.
This place completely overturned his imagination of the intelligence agency headquarters. There was no solemn atmosphere, no armed personnel patrolling back and forth, on the contrary, the entire hall was spacious and bright, full of modernity.
The towering glass dome allows natural light to pour down, illuminating the entire space. In the center of the hall is a huge metal sculpture, shaped like a soaring oriental dragon, shining coldly in the sun. Surrounding the dragon is a circular pool, and the clear water reflects the skylight from the dome, giving people a deep and mysterious feeling.
"Surprised?" An Yu noticed Sekt's expression.
"Indeed," Sekt nodded, "I've been to intelligence agencies in many countries, but I've never seen anything like this. This is more like a modern art museum."
He glanced around the hall. Staff in plain clothes came and went, behaved calmly, and talked and laughed. If it weren't for the almost invisible security facilities, it would be hard to believe that this was the headquarters of an intelligence agency.
"Those glasses," Seckt pointed to the French windows around him, "are made of bulletproof material, and can protect against snipers. The walls look ordinary, but they are actually made of a special alloy. And the marble on the floor should be a reinforced concrete structure underneath. The entire hall is a fortress with exquisite design."
An Yu pushed up his glasses and said, "Mr. Seckt is really professional."
"Professional habits," Seckt smiled, his eyes falling on the reception desk in the corner of the hall. Although they looked like ordinary service staff, their alert eyes and delicate postures clearly showed that they had undergone special training.
"Interesting," he said to himself, "Hidden in the most open design is the most stringent defense. This is in line with the Chinese philosophy."
An Yu led him to the elevator: "You are right. But these are just superficial. The real 'Dragon's Nest' is still down there."
Sekt followed into the elevator and watched An Yu press the down button. He knew that the really interesting part was just beginning.
This seemingly transparent and open building, perhaps just like China's foreign policy, always hides the deepest intentions under the most peaceful appearance.
