Chapter 186 Deliberate
Chapter 186 Deliberate
When Le Peier arrived at the dressing room at around 5 a.m., she saw Liang Liangwei waiting for her outside the door. She crossed her arms and said irritably, "I made an appointment with Director Yang to start filming at 8 a.m., so I can start makeup at 7 a.m. Why did you have to make an appointment so early?"
Liang Liangwei had anticipated her displeasure, so she smiled slightly and said, "Miss Le, I heard from Director Yang that you were the one who suggested that I do your makeup today, is that right?"
Le Pei'er pursed her lips and said, "Well, I just thought you did a good job doing Teacher Gu Yan's makeup yesterday, so I wanted you to do my makeup for today's scene as well."
Despite her haughty demeanor, Liang Liangwei wasn't annoyed. She simply said, "Because of Miss Le's request, Director Yang had to pay three times the price to have me stay for half a day longer. I also risked affecting my upcoming schedule, all for Miss Le's film. Can't you put a little more effort into your own film?"
Le Peier's expression changed slightly. She was put on a pedestal and couldn't refute it for a moment. She glared at Liang Liangwei and said, "Why do I feel like you're doing this on purpose? It's not even dawn yet. Doesn't it only take you half an hour to do your makeup? What am I supposed to do after I'm done? Just wait for two hours?"
Liang Liangwei chuckled and said, "Are you saying that I got up earlier than you on purpose?"
Le Pei'er choked: "..."
Liang Liangwei said calmly, "The makeup time was agreed upon with Director Yang. He will be here soon. We haven't had time to sign the new contract yet. I can only start doing your makeup after the contract is signed. Also, your makeup is more complicated and different from Teacher Gu's makeup. It will take at least an hour. In addition, I have to catch a flight at 10 o'clock, so I checked out of the hotel early this morning, brought my luggage, and left as soon as the time is up. I don't have any extra time or energy to deal with you."
Seeing the tension between the two escalating, Lin Yi quickly patted Le Peier on the shoulder and stepped in to defuse the situation, saying, "Let's not talk about this anymore. We're already here, let's go inside and talk about it."
Le Pei'er turned her face away, looking displeased. After the door opened, she went in first and quickly walked to her designated seat to sit down.
Her team followed behind her.
Liang Liangwei didn't rush in. She waited until everyone else had gone in before pushing her luggage in and following them.
She put her luggage in a corner and asked Lan Yin to watch the toolbox. She then texted Director Yang to ask when he would arrive, and he said he would be there in 5 minutes.
Lin Yi personally poured two glasses of water and brought them over, smiling as she said, "Weiwei, we're really sorry. We didn't want to affect your schedule, but yesterday Teacher Gu told us that not only is your makeup beautiful, but some of the cosmetics you use seem to be quite special. He said that after wearing the makeup for two days, he didn't feel anything unusual during the day, and his skin didn't itch after removing it at night. His skin felt very comfortable, so we considered asking you to stay for another half day. We didn't mean to make things difficult for you."
Liang Liangwei took the water and smiled, saying, "I didn't say you did it on purpose."
She was being sarcastic, because it was Le Pei'er who said someone was "deliberate."
Lin Yi noticed it, and so did Le Pei'er, and their actions of taking off their coats became somewhat unnatural.
Lin Yi quickly replied, "I know, I know, I didn't mean that at all. Hey, what brand of cosmetics did you use for Teacher Gu? Could you recommend one? Is it suitable for her regular skincare routine?"
Liang Liangwei: "I'll take it out and introduce it to you later."
A short while later, Director Yang arrived, looking hurried, and handed the printed contract to Liang Liangwei.
"You all need to get your makeup done quickly. I still need to go to the theater to oversee things; there are some new things to set up today."
Liang Liangwei quickly glanced at the contract, signed her name, and the contract officially came into effect.
Director Yang handed the contract to his assistant, saying, "Have the finance department transfer the advance payment immediately."
Director Yang quickly received a reply from the finance department saying that the payment had been made, and then hurriedly left the dressing room.
Liang Liangwei did not delay and immediately began preparations.
Le Pei-er had already changed into her costume and was sitting in her seat waiting.
Liang Liangwei put on her mask and went over with Lan Yin carrying their suitcases.
Just as she was about to wash Le Pei'er's face, Le Pei'er, who had been keeping her eyes closed, suddenly opened them, sat up straight as if remembering something, and said, "I forgot to take off my necklace."
She carefully removed a platinum necklace from her neck. The pendant on the necklace was set with a huge pink diamond, about the size of a fingernail, which sparkled and dazzled the eye.
The dressing room was mostly filled with girls, and they all gasped softly when they saw the necklace.
"What a beautiful pink diamond!"
"Is it true? It's huge!"
"The diamonds Pei'er wears are definitely real!"
No woman is immune to the allure of diamonds, and Liang Liangwei was no exception. She couldn't help but glance at them a few more times; they were indeed very beautiful, but—
Le Peier smiled smugly, glanced at Liang Liangwei, then looked at her toolbox, saw an empty space, and put the necklace in: "I'll leave it here for now, I'll take it back after I finish my makeup."
Liang Liangwei frowned, took a half step back, and said, "Don't joke like that, Miss Le. I can't afford to take that responsibility. You should give it to Miss Lin for safekeeping."
Le Pei'er scoffed, "I'm right here, what are you afraid of? Are you afraid I'll frame you for stealing?"
Liang Liangwei's expression darkened slightly as she said, "Unless you don't care about this necklace, then I have nothing to say. But if it's very valuable, please take some responsibility and keep it safe yourself."
Le Pei'er said impatiently, "Isn't this annoying? Let's get started already."
Liang Liangwei frowned and looked at Lin Yi: "Miss Lin, you can take the necklace away."
Lin Yi was walking out the door when she heard this and said without turning her head, "Wait until I come back."
Then he went out.
Liang Liangwei turned her gaze away from her and looked at Le Peier, who had her eyes closed. She pursed her lips, picked up the movable storage compartment from the toolbox, and said, "Then I'll put it in your pocket."
Le Peier suddenly reached out, seemingly to take it, but somehow her hand twisted and touched Liang Liangwei's hand.
Liang Liangwei was caught off guard and her hand wobbled, causing the diamond necklace to fall out of the storage compartment and land straight on the ground.
With a "snap," the diamond and platinum setting broke apart.
Because the necklace was valuable, everyone's eyes were on it, and upon seeing this, they couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Le Pei'er was terrified and jumped up, shouting, "My necklace!"
Liang Liangwei froze, then quickly took a big step back: "I didn't mean to."
Le Pei'er's expression changed drastically. She bent down to pick up the necklace from the ground, looking heartbroken, her hands trembling.
He then glared at Liang Liangwei and said, "You dare say you didn't do it on purpose! Do you know what kind of necklace this is? It was a birthday gift from one of my uncles, a necklace worth tens of millions!"
