Dong Qing stared at the countless red dots surging toward the base on the screen, speechless with shock.
"At the current speed, how long will it take to reach the base?" Zuo You asked in a deep voice, standing beside him.
The monitor glanced at Dong Qing, who yelled, "What are you looking at me for? Tell me, how long are you going to be here!"
The monitor's fingers trembled involuntarily as he quickly clicked the mouse a few times to calculate the movement speed. He pondered, "The first batch will arrive at the city gate in nineteen minutes."
Seeing Dong Qing staring blankly, Zuo You kicked him and said, "Report it up immediately."
He then dialed Lin Ling's contact number.
"Hey, honey, I bought a mutated lamb leg. I'll roast it for you tonight."
"Lingling, the mutated beasts are attacking the city, hurry home." Zuo You hung up her wristwatch, ignoring everyone else's reactions, put on her ice skates, and zipped home in a puff of smoke.
The monitoring room was in chaos, and Dong Qing hurriedly dialed the base commander's communication number to report the situation.
The base reacted very quickly; before Zuo You even got home, the highest level enemy attack alarm was sounded.
The soldiers within the base immediately sprang into action, each heading to their assigned posts to prepare for a potential enemy attack. The base commander ordered all exits to be closed, and all registered Awakened were to await wartime conscription regulations.
The streets and alleys were now in chaos. Many people thought a zombie horde had arrived and rushed home to hide. Others, without hesitation, climbed the city walls, hoping to find higher ground to escape the disaster more easily.
Everyone on the street was wearing ice skates or homemade skating devices. Skilled people could glide freely on the ice, while those who were not skilled were trampled and groaned in pain as everyone pushed and shoved them.
