Chapter 61 Fuxi's Enlightenment, Laying the Foundation for the Human Emperor
Fuxi, carrying the Hetu and Luoshu, returned to his tribe from Mengjin.
Throughout the journey, he remained immersed in the enlightenment he had just experienced. The profound mysteries of the True Dragon Treasure Technique and the Qilin Treasure Technique were like two bright lamps, illuminating the path he had wandered in.
He did not rush to comprehend the two innate spiritual treasures, but instead secluded himself to meditate and carefully sort out the insights in his mind.
The two supernatural powers showed him a path he had never seen before.
He discovered that the Ten Fierce Treasure Techniques were so powerful because they used special methods to conjure divine beasts of heaven and earth to fight their enemies.
These mythical beasts—such as the True Dragon, the Heavenly Phoenix, the Qilin, and the Kunpeng—each possess extremely unique advantages in certain aspects.
Simply put, it's a "shortcut." They are naturally close to a certain great path, enabling them to better understand and apply the laws of that path.
The human race is different.
The human race's innate Dao body is also a kind of "near-the-Dao" physique, but it is completely different from that of divine beasts. Humans have a certain affinity for all the Great Daos, but very few have any particularly outstanding aspects. Of course, extremely special physiques are another matter.
To give an example: in terms of affinity for the Great Dao of Fire, ordinary humans might only have 10%, while the three-legged golden crow might reach 99%, or even higher. Both are affinity, but the difference is worlds apart.
However, this is also the advantage of the human race. The three-legged golden crow has an extremely high affinity for the Great Dao of Fire, but may have zero or even negative affinity for other Great Daos. Some Great Daos may even directly dislike or reject it.
The human race is different. The human race has a similar affinity for every Great Dao. Although it is not outstanding, it is not biased.
This is both the advantage and the limitation of the human race.
Fuxi gleaned a lesson from the magical arts: since the human race has mediocre talents, why not change it? Or rather, why not "disguise" it?
If one could somehow make one's physique similar to that of a divine beast, would one then gain the same power as that beast? Moreover, the physiques of divine beasts are not weak—they are at least much stronger than those of humans.
Having grasped this point, Fuxi felt a sudden sense of clarity.
He began to deduce this cultivation method. Based on the True Dragon Treasure Technique and the Qilin Treasure Technique, and using the innate Dao body of the human race as a foundation, he attempted to create a method that would allow humans to cultivate a "divine beast physique".
Logically speaking, with his current cultivation level, achieving this would be as difficult as ascending to heaven. However, he possesses the fortune of a human emperor, and is naturally blessed by the heavenly Dao. During the deduction, all sorts of inspirations emerged like a spring, and many key points that he couldn't understand before suddenly became clear without him even realizing it.
Several days later, Fuxi finally completed the deduction of the theoretical framework.
He named this cultivation method "Divine Body Cultivation Method"—using a human body to cultivate the essence of divine beasts. Upon reaching a high level of cultivation, one can transform into the body of a true dragon or a Qilin, gaining the physical strength of a divine beast and an affinity with the Great Dao.
Of course, this is just theory. The subsequent verification will be his own cultivation process. Whether he will succeed remains to be seen. However, Fuxi is not in a hurry. The path to becoming the Human Emperor is long and arduous; he has ample patience.
With the deduction of the cultivation method coming to an end, Fuxi finally turned his attention to the two innate spiritual treasures, the Hetu and the Luoshu.
That night, the moon was bright and the stars were few.
Fuxi sat alone in the wooden hut, holding the Hetu and Luoshu before him. The two treasures emitted a faint glow. On the Hetu, stars were scattered like the warp and weft of the heavens; within the Luoshu, runes flowed, like the interplay of yin and yang.
Fuxi took a deep breath and slowly probed his divine sense into it.
In that instant, his mind seemed to be drawn into a vast starry sky.
The Hetu (River Diagram) unfolded before my eyes, transforming into a boundless scroll. In the painting, heaven and earth were yet undifferentiated, a chaotic void. Suddenly, it split in two, separating the clear from the turbid. Yin and Yang intertwined and entwined, the power of the Five Elements flowed ceaselessly. The sun, moon, and stars appeared in turn, and mountains and rivers took shape one after another.
Fuxi seemed to have witnessed the creation of heaven and earth firsthand.
He saw the rise of Yang energy, the sinking of Yin energy, the changing of the four seasons, and the birth and death of all things.
Every image contains the most fundamental principles of the universe, and every change reveals the fundamental laws governing the operation of the Great Dao.
At the same time, the Luoshu (Lo Shu Square) also appeared in his mind. The symbols in the book formed mysterious patterns—the secrets of numbers, the root of reason. One becomes two, two becomes three, three becomes all things. Between heaven and earth, there is nothing without number. Among all things, there is nothing without reason.
Fuxi was completely absorbed in it, utterly captivated.
He forgot time, forgot where he was. His mind rose and fell with the evolution of the Hetu and Luoshu, sometimes soaring high into the heavens, sometimes plunging deep into the netherworld. He saw the past, and he saw the future. He touched the pulse of heaven and earth, and he heard the breath of the Great Dao.
After an unknown amount of time, Fuxi slowly opened his eyes.
In his pupils, the eight trigrams—Qian, Kun, Zhen, Xun, Kan, Li, Gen, and Dui—were faintly visible, appearing alternately before ultimately returning to nothingness.
"So that's how it is—" Fuxi murmured to himself, his voice filled with a mixture of understanding and emotion.
He finally understood that the operation of all things in the universe follows certain laws. The unity of opposites between Yin and Yang, the mutual generation and restraint of the Five Elements, and the intricate complexity of the Eight Trigrams—all of these constitute the fundamental order of the universe.
The Hetu and Luoshu are written records of this order, and are the most direct manifestation of the Great Dao of Heaven and Earth.
Fuxi stood up and walked out of the wooden house.
In the night sky, stars twinkled and the Milky Way stretched across the heavens. He looked up at the sky, a sense of mission he had never felt before welling up inside him.
The way of the Human Emperor lies not in fighting and killing, nor in scheming, but in education and creation. He wants to transform the great truths in the Hetu and Luoshu into knowledge that the human race can understand and use, so that the human race can move from ignorance to civilization, and from weakness to strength.
This is his mission, and also his destiny.
Fuxi sat cross-legged in front of the wooden house, spread out the Hetu and Luoshu, and began to record his insights stroke by stroke.
He drew the first Bagua diagram: Qian (☰) is three unbroken lines, Kun (☷) is six broken lines, Zhen (☳) is an upturned line, Gen (☶) is an overturned line, Li (☲) is empty in the middle, Kan (☵) is full in the middle, Dui (☱) is missing at the top, and Xun (☴) is broken at the bottom. These eight symbols embody the most fundamental principles of heaven and earth.
He wrote his first article, which used Yin and Yang as the framework, the Five Elements as the details, and the Eight Trigrams as the application to explain the laws governing the operation of heaven and earth.
A gentle night breeze stirred his robes. The radiance of the Hetu and Luoshu illuminated his face, as if divinely inspired.
Fuxi knew that this was only the beginning.
The Great Dao contained in the Hetu and Luoshu is unfathomable; with his current cultivation level, he has only grasped the basics. But he is not in a hurry. The path to becoming the Human Emperor is long and arduous; he has plenty of time and patience.
Besides, he's still young.
Fuxi smiled slightly and continued to immerse himself in the Hetu and Luoshu diagrams.
Xuan Du stood high in the sky, looking down at everything, and murmured, "This power of destiny is truly mysterious! With Heaven's mandate upon me, everything goes smoothly!"
He actually envied Fuxi quite a bit. After being granted the Mandate of Heaven, Fuxi had extraordinary comprehension and could achieve enlightenment as easily as drinking water.
Moreover, this level of cultivation was enough to create a unique technique suitable for one's own race. Although it was mediocre, it was still quite impressive.
Most importantly, the Empress who becomes the Daoist Fuxi will accumulate merit. After absorbing that immense merit, she will directly become a top-tier power in the primordial world, with a status second only to the Sage and the Heavenly Emperor.
This is what Xuandu envies.
Xuandu watched for a while, then concealed himself and continued to protect Fuxi. Although Fuxi was about to attain enlightenment, he still needed to be cautious to avoid any trouble.
