Chapter 57 Heading to Ape Demon Mountain
Chapter 57 Heading to Ape Demon Mountain
Lu Changgeng listened expressionlessly. His guess was pretty much right. These two had a grudge against the Soft Bone King, no wonder they wanted to take advantage of her while she was asleep.
"Now that things have come to this, we two girls have no other requests but to beg the Taoist priest to give us a chance to kill our enemies!" the girl sobbed.
Lu Changgeng pondered for a moment and said, "I cannot agree to this matter for the time being, but you two can stay in the nearby Cuiyun Town for the time being, and I can send you there. When the time is right, I will give you two a chance to take revenge."
"Taoist Master, please let my daughter take revenge! Isn't that the rabbit spirit lying on the ground?" The girl was quite insightful and guessed the true identity of the imposter on the ground.
"good."
"I killed her!"
The girl let out a low growl and stepped forward, brandishing her soft dagger.
With a clang, the soft dagger flew out and bounced off the water jet cover.
"Insolence!" Lu Changgeng said angrily, "I have already said that I will give you a chance when the time is right. This demon is still of great use to me at present."
The girl was intimidated by his imposing presence, so she lowered her head and dared not act recklessly any longer. She glared resentfully at the Soft Bone King on the ground and said, "Daoist Master, I will obey your command. I await your good news."
A moment later, Lu Changgeng took the two to Cuiyun Town and gave them some travel money. He instructed them not to run around or talk nonsense, otherwise, if the news leaked, they would not only be unable to take revenge, but their lives would be in danger.
The two women had stayed in the monster's cave for three years and were no ordinary people. Knowing the dangers involved, they agreed.
By the time Lu Changgeng returned to the Soft Bone Cave, it was almost dawn.
He immediately summoned two maids and two demon generals, instructing them to carry himself and the "himself" transformed by the Soft Bone King to Ape Demon Mountain.
Ape Demon Mountain is more than two hundred miles away from Star Dou Mountain. It left a deep impression on the Soft Bone King's memory, so Lu Changgeng did not need anyone to lead the way.
Half a day later, Lu Changgeng and the demons arrived at the territory of the Ape Demon Mountain.
The mountain terrain here is completely different from the steep and beautiful Pansiling.
From a distance, the entire mountain resembles a giant ape crouching on the ground, with its ridges like arms and its peaks like heads. Jagged rocks jut out from the mountainside all the way to the clouds, their color a bluish-black like iron, and no vegetation grows there.
Above the mountainside, the area is shrouded in a perpetual gray fog. This fog is not ordinary mountain mist, but rather a malevolent cloud formed from an extremely dense concentration of demonic energy. It hangs heavily over the mountains, and even birds dare not fly beneath it.
As Lu Changgeng carried the sedan chair to the foot of the mountain, he felt a heavy, leaden pressure emanating from the depths of the mountain, which made the flow of his magical power somewhat sluggish.
However, after simply circulating the "Celestial Immortal Technique" for a while, he returned to normal.
This Ape Demon King is a genuine early stage of the Returning to Emptiness and Dao Integration Realm, a whole major realm higher than him. Once his identity is exposed, a fierce battle is inevitable today.
At the end of the mountain path, a giant iron gate, over ten feet high, stood before them. The gate was adorned with a pair of ape-faced door knockers with protruding fangs. The door knockers passed through the nostrils of the ape faces and were held in the claws of two ape spirits, each over ten feet tall.
Lu Changgeng felt a chill run down his spine; both of the gatekeepers were actually at the Transformation stage.
The two ape demons, bare-chested, with arms as thick as palace pillars and bristles like steel needles standing on end, neither bowed nor yielded to the newcomer. Their four large, copper-bell-shaped eyes coldly swept over him, lingering for a moment on the sedan chair behind Lu Changgeng before returning to his face. They spoke in a gruff voice, "Halt! Do you have a warrant from the Ape Demon King?"
Lu Changgeng walked straight up to the two green ape spirits without stopping, raised his chin, and said coldly, "Are you blind? You don't recognize me after just a few days?"
His tone was full of impatience, just like the way the Soft Bone King usually bossed around his little demons.
He raised his hand and gestured towards the sedan chair behind him, then sneered, "I have captured the most wanted criminal by the Azure Wave Pool and brought him here personally to see the Ape Demon King. If you think this matter is not enough to qualify you to enter this gate, I will go back now. When the Ape Demon King asks, I will say that you, the Azure Ape Spirit, blocked both the man and the bounty outside the mountain gate."
The two green ape spirits exchanged a glance and let out a low growl.
The one on the left took a half step back first, its right claw gripping the door knocker, its arm muscles bulging, and the massive blue iron door was slowly pulled open with a muffled roar.
Although the one on the right also stepped back, its large, bell-shaped eyes remained fixed on the sedan chair covered with a black cloth, its nostrils twitching slightly as if it were sniffing something.
Lu Changgeng snorted coldly, waved his sleeve, and four demons carried the sedan chair in single file behind him.
After he walked away, the green ape spirit on the left muttered under its breath, "What's with the arrogance? It's just something that hasn't even taken human form yet, relying on the king's backing."
A gust of hot air, mixed with the smells of fish, mutton, and rust, rushed in from behind the door. Lu Changgeng frowned almost imperceptibly, then relaxed.
The cave appears even more magnificent inside than from the outside.
The cave passage is high and wide enough to accommodate several giant elephants walking side by side. Every few steps on the stone walls on both sides, there is a fist-sized luminous pearl. The light shines down through the crystal lampshades carved into the shape of animal heads, illuminating the entire cave passage as bright as day.
Dozens of thick stone pillars, each so thick that it takes two people to encircle them, stand on both sides of the cave passage. Each pillar is covered with densely packed demonic characters, mostly recording the battle achievements and bloodline inheritance of the Ape Demon King's ancestors.
The stone steps underfoot were polished to a mirror shine, extending upwards along the mountainside, with a pair of halberd-wielding demon generals standing solemnly on either side of every nine steps.
The main hall's doors were made of two single pieces of black jade. The naturally formed patterns on the jade surface perfectly outlined a giant ape roaring towards the sky. The ape's eyes were two crimson spirit stones, which, from a distance, looked like two flames burning within the black jade. Lu Changgeng straightened his clothes before the black jade doors and sent two demon generals guarding the gates to announce his arrival. Then, the demon generals pushed open the doors, and with a muffled rumble, the entire scene of the main hall was revealed.
A giant lamp, carved from a single piece of blue gemstone, hangs high above the palace ceiling. The light refracts through the blue crystal, casting a cold, eerie glow that casts swaying shadows on the palace walls.
Directly above was a huge throne made entirely of black stone blocks, with a backrest over three zhang high and a carved ape head with bared fangs at the top, its eyes inlaid with red gemstones.
A figure sat on the throne, his body as imposing as a mountain, his red hair flowing over his shoulders, his face like a thunder god, with a sunken nose, bulging eyes, and protruding fangs.
His body was covered in brown hair, which covered his bulging muscles, exuding an explosive sense of power.
His eyes were bloodshot, and deep within them lurked a shrewdness and coldness that seemed completely out of place with his rugged appearance.
This is the Ape Demon King, a demon king at the Returning to Emptiness and Dao Integration Realm, a great demon who ranks among the top in Xiniu Hezhou.
As soon as the palace doors opened, the Ape Demon King's face, which resembled that of a thunder god, broke into a smile. The smile carried an undisguised intimacy. He rose from his throne, strode down the steps, and opened his arms to put his arm around the shoulder of the Soft Bone King, who was Lu Changgeng in disguise.
"My beloved concubine! I heard you captured that scarlet-haired scoundrel? We've been searching the Azure Pool for days and haven't found a single hair, yet my concubine has stolen the credit! Let me see if you're tired from all this time!"
