Chapter 112 Preaching
Chapter 112 Preaching
He seemed intently focused on the scroll, without looking up.
But a gentle breeze swirled around them, and the wine and meat flew up to the roof, as if lifted up by an unseen hand.
After a while.
Grandma Tianjing ate heartily for a while before finally letting out a comfortable burp.
"My child..."
"Why is the food and drink so bland today?"
"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even give a damn about such a gluttonous old woman..."
During the conversation, Granny Tianjing did not mention the unpleasant incident between the human and the demon last time.
When Grandma Tianjing asked the question, Yang Silang finally raised his head, rubbing his hands with a bitter expression.
"Grandma, I want you to eat something good too..."
"That day I went back and thought about it. The founding emperor was a man of great talent, and you, my grandmother, are kind-hearted. Both of you highly value Taoist arts. There must be a reason for it. So I decided to learn it."
"However, the silver is running out quickly..."
Yang Silang explained that he first spent money to bribe his way into obtaining the one or two taels of the "Wandering God's Guide".
Next, he sought out a Taoist cultivation technique. He traveled all over the province and even searched the black market. In order to become a familiar face and get accurate information, he spent a lot of money.
In the end, he went to the largest bookstore in the courtyard, but failed to find any books and instead revealed his wealth, which led to him being hunted down by the aristocratic family that ran the store.
Yang Silang's story was full of ups and downs.
"Grandma, I'm just a junior instructor. I haven't even received the bounty for killing the golden tuna yet, so I'm naturally short on cash right now."
"So I bought vegetarian wine and vegetarian meat from the monks' kitchen at Hufa Temple."
"But don't worry, once the bounty is paid, I'll definitely bring you the finest Immortal's Drunken Wine!"
The description of the events is slightly exaggerated, but how else can one show how difficult things are if they don't exaggerate?
Grandma Tianjing spat as she heard this.
"No wonder the food and wine tasted so strange today..."
"So it was those bald monks who did it; no wonder it looks so out of place!"
"None of those bald monks are good people. Back then, they chanted the 'Loyalty Mantra' for us so much that it almost drove me crazy..."
"Don't waste your money like this anymore. If you need Taoist books, you don't necessarily have to go to those companies..."
Yang Silang listened quietly.
Grandma Tianjing gave the bald monk a good scolding.
Yang Silang just watched it quietly.
On the round stone, Grandma Tianjing's old face was covered with wrinkles that looked like a bitter chrysanthemum.
She hesitated for a moment, then finally gritted her teeth and whispered.
"My child..."
"Actually, Grandma has some martial arts techniques."
Her voice unconsciously dropped eight octaves, and a flash of blue light appeared on the round stone, enveloping the inside and outside of the house.
Yang Silang's senses were sharp, and he felt that after the flash of blue light, no sound from outside could be heard. He suspected that the sound from inside and outside was now completely cut off.
After Grandma Tianjing used her supernatural powers, her voice finally rose a little, but judging from her expression, she still couldn't escape the words "sneaky" and "mysterious."
"Actually, I, Grandma, didn't always stay in the Wujing Tower."
"I was young then, and for a few years I was transferred to guard an abandoned Taoist temple."
"I've seen that Taoist priest practice the Taoist arts he cultivates, so I naturally know how to practice them."
"This is an ordinary Taoist manual, and an incomplete one at that. It can only be cultivated up to the Possession Realm. Are you willing to learn it?"
"Grandma, I'm telling you this beforehand: even your closest relatives and friends, don't spread this magic around, or you'll be in big trouble."
The Daoist arts begin with entering meditation, followed by astral projection, wandering soul, and possession. Possession is equivalent to the steel-dirty realm of martial arts.
Yang Silang nodded vigorously with great joy.
"Yes, yes, kid. Even if you sew your mouth shut while you sleep, it definitely won't leak out."
He strongly suspected that what Granny Tianjing wanted to teach him was probably not some ordinary Taoist technique.
The status of the Guardian Taoist is equivalent to that of the Tower Guardian Grandmaster. Moreover, if it is a provincial capital or secondary capital, a Grandmaster is required to guard it. It is said that the Martial Scripture Tower in the capital is even guarded by a half-step Martial Saint.
Therefore, the cultivation method practiced by the Taoist priest in charge of the pavilion is by no means ordinary.
Moreover, judging from Grandma's frightened appearance, this magic might have other origins and be deeply involved.
But if you're afraid and don't learn, how will you become stronger?
He just wanted to learn some basic Taoist techniques, but he didn't have the means to do so, and he didn't want to take any risks. He figured he might as well go back and tell his older sister to find a wife to settle down with.
"Grandma, I want to learn!"
He nodded with absolute certainty.
Human nobles are extremely wary of their fellow humans learning the Dao; yet it is a demon who imparts great techniques to him, which is quite ironic.
Grandma Tianjing sighed when she saw that he had made his choice.
"I will pass on my Taoist teachings to you, but I don't know whether it will bring you fortune or misfortune in the future."
"Just remember this: when you reach the Possession Realm, switch to another cultivation method. If you continue cultivating, it might really be dangerous."
"It's difficult to find Taoist arts in the Jiangdong Province of Shun, but it might not be the same in other provinces; even if it's difficult to find them in the entire Shun Kingdom, there are still the surrounding Chen Kingdom and Wei Kingdom..."
"I also overheard the grand martial arts masters patrolling the tower chatting and learned that the Yan Kingdom is in complete chaos. In such a chaotic world, some martial arts techniques will definitely be leaked out."
"There's no need to put all your eggs in one basket..."
Yang Silang readily agreed.
He was curious about what kind of cultivation technique Grandma Tianjing had passed on to him, why she gave him all sorts of instructions, and why she told him that he must switch to this technique if he had the chance in the future, and not to continue practicing it.
"Grandma...you're overthinking it. Even if I wanted to practice, I don't have any way to obtain the later techniques, so how could I learn them?"
Grandma Tianjing's expression calmed down a bit.
In the round stone, she raised her hand and pointed to the scroll on the wall, whispering.
"Look carefully!"
"This is what it looked like back then..."
"Feed it more blood; there's a lot of information inside, and the mirage demon skin gets hungry quickly..."
A beam of blue light shot from her fingertips onto the scroll.
The mirage skin trembled, and a faceless Taoist figure slowly appeared. The surrounding wind and clouds surged, as if he were standing in the void, but in front of him was an incense burner with a stick of burning incense stick inserted on it.
The portrait was unstable, and the faceless Taoist seemed about to dissipate.
Yang Silang hurriedly snapped his fingers, forcing out more than a dozen drops of blood, which shot into the scroll, three times more than usual.
at last.
The faceless Taoist image stabilized completely, and then slowly transformed into Yang Silang's face.
The Taoist priest sat cross-legged with his palms facing upwards, in a meditative state. He breathed in a mysterious rhythm, which was quite charming. When he was half asleep, a point of light slowly appeared inside his head. At first, it was just a tiny point of light, flickering and constantly changing position, and it was not stable.
If we're talking about the approximate location, this point of light is above the center of a person's forehead, inside the skull, and doesn't coincide with any martial arts acupoint. It can only be said to be deep inside the brain behind the Yintang acupoint.
As the Taoist breathed, the lit incense stick rose into the air, its fragrance spreading. He gathered it into a wisp of white mist, inhaling it all through his nose, down to his internal organs and then to his dantian. Instead of mobilizing his true qi and blood, the fragrance combined with a mysterious factor within his body and was finally guided to the point of light in his head.
In this way, the position of the light spot gradually stabilizes and it gradually becomes brighter.
Finally, as the incense burned out, the light shone like stars, many times brighter than before. Suddenly, the light expanded into a ball of light that floated in my mind.
Then, the above scene repeated itself.
Yang Silang flicked the blood several more times to ensure the image on the scroll remained stable.
He carefully studied the textual descriptions of the exercises in the blank spaces of the scroll.
Grandma Tianjing had some reservations, so she erased the name of the Taoist method and only left the true description of the Taoist method. Fortunately, not having a name did not affect the learning. It was just that occasionally some words were blacked out, which looked a bit awkward.
It turned out that the Taoist priest in front of them was demonstrating the most basic method of entering meditation in Taoism.
Once one successfully enters a meditative state, one is considered a Daoist disciple and has some connection to Daoist practices.
This method of entering meditation is commonly known as "Ding Ni Wan" (定泥丸). Regardless of the specific Taoist practice, the introductory techniques are largely the same. Just as no matter what martial art one practices, one must first strengthen the body and train the skin, muscles, and tendons.
The Niwan (泥丸) is considered by Taoist practitioners to be the place where the spirit resides and the source of all the power of Taoist arts.
For a Taoist practitioner, it is as important as the dantian is to a martial artist.
In traditional Chinese medicine, there is a similar term, called the Upper Dantian, also known as the Niwan Palace, Tiangu, Kunlun Peak, etc.
By using incense and coordinating with breathing rhythm, one can find and fixate the Niwan (a point in the brain) hidden within, a process known as "fixing the Niwan."
"Did you remember?" Grandma Tianjing asked.
Yang Silang nodded. The only thing to pay attention to here is the breathing rhythm, but you also need to pay attention to breathing when practicing stance training, so this is not a problem for him.
"Look again..." Granny Tianjing pointed, and the portrait in the scroll changed again.
The Taoist lit another incense stick. As his cultivation deepened, the light spot on his Niwan acupoint brightened and grew larger into a ball of light. As the ball of light expanded, countless free-floating light spots could be seen inside, dancing wildly like fish without any pattern. The light spots were even colliding with each other and dissipating.
Large points of light are constantly being gathered, but the next moment these large points of light may vanish into nothingness.
Within the ball of light, countless points of light are born and die every single breath.
The Taoist continued his cultivation, using incense as a guide. At the same time, with each breath, colorful particles seemed to float in the surrounding air and were drawn into his Niwan Palace (the area behind the head).
The Niwan Palace grew ever more magnificent and splendid.
At a certain point, a long, vertical point of light appeared at the center of the light cluster. It was huge and occupied nearly half of the center. Instead of dissipating, it became more solid and brighter over time.
I don't know how much time passed.
boo...
A soft sound.
The elongated point of light transformed, condensed, and finally gave birth to a tiny human figure.
The Taoist's physical body resembled Yang Silang, so the little person born in his Niwan Palace also resembled Yang Silang.
The tiny figure of light had the same limbs and facial features as Yang Silang's body. It was naked, shameless, and sitting cross-legged with its eyes closed. It was even breathing slightly, breathing with the flesh outside.
This step is called "Generating the Divine Soul".
First, focus on the Niwan point (the upper dantian). The Niwan point is filled with numerous thoughts. From these thoughts, the main thought (spirit) is generated. When the spirit emerges, the meditation method is complete, marking the success of meditation and the beginning of the path.
The techniques are indicated on the scroll.
Cultivating one's spirit and soul can make one's memory extraordinary, one's mind clear and hearing sharp, one's sleep reduced but of much higher quality, and one's spirit and soul can also introspect and observe oneself from another perspective.
Of course, the soul is fragile, and there are many taboos.
Yang Silang flicked blood a few more times in the middle, but he had long forgotten about it, as he was completely focused on the scroll.
Only when the faceless Taoist figure disappeared from the scroll did he reluctantly withdraw his gaze, having already memorized the meditation method completely.
"Thank you, Grandma..."
He bowed respectfully to Grandma Tianjing.
Grandma Tianjing unleashed another burst of blue light.
Grandma Tianjing unleashed another burst of blue light.
The scroll hanging on the wall suddenly burst into flames, and faint cries of agony could be heard.
Grandma Tianjing clapped her hands and breathed a long sigh of relief.
"Alright, now only heaven, earth, you, and I know..."
"No need to worry about the mirage demon leaking the secret..."
Yang Silang: "..."
