Chapter 207 The Transformation of the Maya (4)
I haven't felt this comfortable in a long time.
The word "comfortable" made Morse feel something different; the touch on the back of his head was both familiar and strange.
I haven't felt this way in a long time.
"you're awake."
The sound rang out, and Morse opened his eyes to find everything calm. Maya looked down at him with a gentle smile on her face.
Bathed in soft light, her delicate features were smooth and radiant, and her once deep red eyes had returned to their familiar blue, exuding a serene aura.
Compared to her previous self, she now gives off a completely different vibe, seemingly returning to her true self, yet also appearing somewhat different.
"This……"
Morse didn't want to stay in that position any longer, mainly because it was a bit awkward, not because he was reminded of past memories, absolutely not.
"How long have I been asleep?" he asked as he stood up.
Snapped!
However, Maya pressed her hand against his forehead, stopping him. For some reason, Maya's power made it impossible for him to resist.
"Hmm? What's wrong?" Morse asked, puzzled.
He felt somewhat weak, or more accurately, the power that had been flowing through his body had disappeared. This was most likely because Sylvie's [Blessing] effect had disappeared, which meant that his attributes had returned to their original state.
"Junior, you're still very tired." Maya smiled gently and patted Morse's forehead lightly.
Her smile carried a sense of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. Her eyes were clear and full of kindness, reflecting her inner care.
But Morse still didn't want to stay in that position, nor did he feel that tired.
"I didn't..."
“You do, so why don’t you listen to your elders?” she interrupted.
"..."
"That's right, you should listen to your elders."
Seeing her smile ignited Morse's stubborn nature.
"...You didn't act like an elder just now..."
"what?"
When the opportunity arose, Morse immediately pointed out, "I mean, just now, you didn't act like an elder, you acted more like a hungry child."
Maya's eyes widened, her cheeks flushing slightly. She stammered for a moment, clearly caught off guard: "I...I didn't! I just...uh, I was thirsty, yes, thirsty!"
Morse couldn't resist teasing her again: "Thirsty? So you're drinking my blood like a child."
"That...that's not true! I just...uh!" Her face turned even redder, and she hurriedly covered her eyes with her hands, trying to hide herself. Then she slightly opened her fingers, revealing her clear blue eyes.
"I...I'm sorry..." she said softly, still unable to let go of her earlier behavior.
She was still so naive. Thinking this, Morse replied, "It's okay, I did it voluntarily."
“But that must have hurt a lot, right?” Maya’s voice was full of concern as she looked at Morse lying on her lap. “I know you’re not feeling well, and that this is a burden for you. I didn’t mean to… I just couldn’t control myself.”
When she mentioned the pain, Morse recalled how she felt when she stabbed the fangs into her body; instead, she felt something different.
She felt a pleasurable sensation where she bit, followed by a slight numbness. It wasn't just pain, so Morse was certain of one thing: she was different from other vampires.
Although the exact reason is unclear, if her evolution is interrupted because of me, then she may be in an unstable state.
This is quite possible, although it is very rare. But if it is Maya, then it is understandable. She is a very kind person and would not intentionally hurt anyone.
This evolution may be due to her emotions and self-restriction.
This is a remarkable achievement; even under such circumstances, she retained her true nature.
This is a quality worthy of respect.
"You don't need to apologize."
"what?"
“You don’t need to apologize,” Morse repeated, looking directly into her eyes. The look of surprise on her face made Morse feel the need to reassure her. “Senior, it doesn’t hurt. In fact, it feels… a little different.”
“Not…different?” Her eyes widened further, and the blush on her face deepened.
Morse nodded and answered honestly, “It felt strange, but comfortable. It was different from the expected pain. It was a wonderful feeling that is hard to describe in words.”
Maya's embarrassment grew stronger. She fiddled with her fingers, avoiding eye contact. "Uh... I didn't mean to... Well, I'm glad I didn't hurt you... But junior, are you really that kind of person?"
"That kind of person? What do you mean?"
"Um... I once heard a friend say that she had a crush on a guy who said he liked pain, that pain was a kind of pleasure for him, so I think you are like that too."
"???" Upon hearing this, Morse looked at Maya in surprise.
“If… if you really like that kind of thing, I don’t mind—” she said, and Morse immediately stood up. It was too embarrassing to continue lying on her lap. Her words hit the nail on the head.
"What's wrong?" she asked, surprised by Morse's sudden action.
“Senior, you’ve completely misunderstood me,” Morse said, looking at her blank face. “I have no interest in that kind of thing, not at all! It’s probably just a unique feeling that’s arising from your…state.”
She nodded, seemingly understanding. "Oh... I understand..." She didn't even feel embarrassed about what she had just said. "I'm sorry if I misunderstood."
Although she apologized, it seemed more like she was apologizing for not understanding than for feeling embarrassed.
Innocence is a kind of happiness...
Morse realized that she wasn't referring to the kind of thing that involved enjoying pain; in fact, she knew very little about it.
"Honestly, you're a master at ruining the mood," Morse muttered.
"what?"
"It's nothing, let's go."
"All right……"
She seemed somewhat regretful, but what could she say?
This is her problem.
Blame your naiveté... or perhaps, blame yourself for knowing too much...
And so they stood up and left.
......
After Morse and Maya emerged from the tunnel, their first action was to return to the hotel.
But Maya went there after Morse had arrived.
“Maya!” Emilia cried out, her eyes filled with comfort and worry. She rushed forward and hugged Maya tightly, her long-suppressed emotions surging up instantly, and tears streamed down her face.
"Where did you go? We were so worried!" Emilia's voice trembled, a mixture of joy at seeing Maya return safely and anxiety about the unknown.
Maya hugged Amelia back, her eyes also moist, unspoken emotions quietly revealed: "I'm sorry, Amelia, this... it's a long story..."
Sylvie stood aside, smiling as she watched their reunion. With Maya's return, the tension between Emilia and Maya dissipated.
She then turned her gaze to Morse beside her. He was watching the scene with those cold eyes, looking somewhat different. She had informed him immediately after learning that Maya had returned.
"Are you alright?" Sylvie asked Morse.
"Yes, thanks to you."
Sylvie smiled, her eyes revealing sincerity: "It's nothing, I'm glad you're all alright."
“Yes.” Morse nodded.
However, something felt different. Sylvie thought to herself, it wasn't just a change in atmosphere; for some reason, the aura she sensed from Morse had become completely different.
"Junior sister." At this moment, Maya's voice came from the side.
Sylvie turned to Maya with a genuine smile. "Thank you, Sylvie, for helping Emilia. I'm truly grateful."
Sylvie smiled in response, feeling a warmth in her heart. "It's nothing, senior, it's what I should do."
However, Sylvie noticed a subtle change in Maya's eyes; she exuded an aura different from usual, one that Sylvie couldn't quite describe.
Sylvie's intuition warned her that something was wrong. She had learned to trust her instincts now, and she sensed that Morse's changes were more dramatic than Maya's.
“We should report this to the authorities as soon as possible,” Morse interjected, adding that letting things escalate could lead to unforeseen consequences.
“That’s right, we can’t let them worry for too long.” Maya nodded.
“I’ll contact the college and the authorities first,” Emilia said, then turned to Morse. “By the way, another group of people came while you were away.”
"Another group?"
“Well, they said they’re from the Demon Bureau and want to talk to you.” Hearing this, Morse turned to Sylvie.
“They asked me what happened back then, and they also want to talk to you.” Sylvie nodded in confirmation, but when the Demon Bureau was mentioned, her expression became somewhat uneasy, and Morse immediately understood why.
"Understood, I will contact them as soon as possible."
