Chapter 28 Twists and Turns
Chapter 28 Twists and Turns
Hua Zijun stopped what she was doing, sat up straight, and said smugly, "Whether I change or not is my business. You just need to protect my father for me."
I pondered for a moment and then agreed to his request. "I will do my best."
No matter what worries or concerns I may have, as long as I have not fulfilled the contract, I will absolutely not allow Huayun City to encounter any accidents or dangers.
At the end of the call, I warned, "Don't let anyone find out about the contract. Otherwise, even I can't protect you."
I felt a sense of relief after hanging up the phone.
At least, this task is much easier than saving the world. However, I also know that this is just the beginning, and many more challenges await me in the future.
At that time, Chongyang heard a loud noise and hurriedly went out to check.
Then I saw bamboo stalks break and fall to the ground. Chongyang observed that the wind wasn't strong today! How strange.
After I finished thinking about what to do about Huayun City, I wanted to go downstairs for a walk to clear my head. This day was full of unexpected events and things didn't go smoothly.
But they didn't catch a glimpse of Chongyang standing in the courtyard with his eyes closed. What was he up to now?
I opened the glass door, leaned back in the rocking chair on the balcony, and quietly watched Chongyang perform his spinning act in place.
I asked suspiciously, "Chongyang, what are you doing?"
Chongyang opened her eyes, her face beaming with joy, and the corners of her mouth turned up. "Sister Yuechu, you're back!"
I nodded, looking on with curiosity.
"Sister Yuechu, I'm feeling the power of the wind."
Bored, I joked, "Why are you feeling the power of the wind? Are you trying to cultivate immortality?"
Chongyang frowned, scratching his head with a very conflicted expression.
His outstretched finger pointed tremblingly at the bamboo grove in the distance. His lips trembled for a while before he finally spoke, embarrassed, "Oh dear! It's not like that at all. I'm just pondering a question here—just how strong a gale would it have to be to have such power to snap these sturdy, upright, and lush green bamboos in two!"
Following Chongyang's direction, I saw clearly that this was the bamboo that had been forced to suffer the consequences of my anger during the phone call.
I felt incredibly guilty, and more importantly, I couldn't explain myself clearly. "I understand, you can continue." I said, and immediately went back inside, not daring to linger on the balcony; I was afraid I'd suffocate if I stayed any longer.
After entering the house, I was amused by Chongyang's actions and laughed so hard that I was doubled over and tears streamed down my face.
After a long while, the laughter gradually subsided, and I suddenly thought of an interesting idea.
I walked to the window and called out to Chongyang downstairs, "Chongyang, would you like to try controlling the power of the wind?"
Upon hearing this, Chongyang's eyes lit up, and he excitedly replied, "Really? Is that possible?"
I smiled and nodded, secretly making plans in my mind. Then, I told Chongyang to concentrate and imagine himself as the master of the wind.
Chongyang closed his eyes and concentrated intently on trying. At first, nothing changed, but he didn't get discouraged and continued his efforts. Gradually, a breeze rose and gently swirled around Chongyang.
A surprised smile appeared on his face, clearly indicating that he had gained initial control over the wind.
I gazed silently at the scene before me, my lips involuntarily curving upwards, my eyes crinkling into crescent shapes, and a smile as radiant as the warm spring sun blooming on my face.
An indescribable joy welled up in my heart, as if all my troubles and worries had vanished in that moment.
It turns out that happiness is so simple and pure. Just like now, seeing such a warm and beautiful scene can make me feel incredibly happy and relaxed.
Later, Chongyang began to slowly move his hands, trying to guide the flow of the wind. The wind became more active with his gestures, sometimes swirling, sometimes rushing. He was having a great time, completely immersed in controlling the wind.
However, just as Chongyang was having a good time, a strong gust of wind blew by, causing him to stumble.
He steadied himself and focused again, but this time the wind became unruly and began to fly erratically.
Chongyang was getting anxious and tried his best to control the situation.
I saw this from upstairs and quickly reminded him to relax and let things take their course.
After listening to my words, Chongyang adjusted his breathing and calmed himself down.
Gradually, the wind returned to normal, and Chongyang gradually mastered the skill of controlling the wind.
He can freely make the wind surround him, and can even condense the wind into small balls to play with.
Finally, Chongyang got tired of playing and stopped controlling the wind.
He looked up at me, his eyes filled with gratitude and excitement.
I waved to him, thinking that I had been tense for too long and needed to relax.
Time flies like an arrow; three short days passed in the blink of an eye.
On this seemingly ordinary night, a crucial moment was hidden—the final deadline!
No matter what plans or ideas Hua Zijun harbored in his heart, no matter how hard he racked his brains and tried his best, in the end it would all be in vain, and all his efforts would turn into nothing.
Because the gears of fate have already begun to turn, the ending seems to be predetermined and cannot be changed.
In the still of the night, a thick, inky darkness enveloped the entire world.
Like a ghost, I appeared silently in front of the magnificent and luxurious villa in Huayun City.
An indescribable and rather strange atmosphere quietly spread, as if an invisible hand was gently choking me, making me involuntarily more alert and my nerves tense up.
This eerie atmosphere was like a thick fog, enveloping everything around it and making it impossible to see its true nature.
A sense of unease and doubt crept into my heart. What could have caused this strange atmosphere? Was it a hidden danger lurking in the shadows, or some mysterious force at work? Or was it just a figment of my imagination due to my oversensitivity? Countless questions swirled in my mind, plunging me into deep thought.
I silently slipped into the luxuriously decorated room in Huayun City. He was sound asleep, his breathing steady and deep.
Hua Yuncheng is really something! He can actually sleep.
I slowly approached the bedside, then reached out and touched his shoulder, saying in a deep voice, "Hua Yuncheng, wake up..." If you don't wake up, don't blame me for taking action!
Hua Yuncheng came to his senses just as my patience was about to run out.
When he realized that the person standing in front of him was me, a look of surprise flashed across his face, and then he immediately sat up.
"How could I have slept so soundly?" he muttered to himself, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
"Huayun City, it's time!" I said in a serious tone.
