Chapter 213 Close Friends
Chapter 213 Close Friends
The three arrived at an upscale restaurant. It was clear that Paul and Molly were regulars there, as the staff all recognized them.
"Do you come here often?" Chu Xinglan asked.
Jasmine and Paul looked at each other and smiled.
“I’m not very good at cooking, and I don’t want to hire a nanny to disrupt our lives, so we often come to this restaurant to eat. Naturally, the people here know us.”
“You don’t need to do those things. After we get married and have children, we’ll hire a nanny to take care of him. We can just enjoy our life as a couple.”
Paul and Jasmine held hands, gazing at each other with deep affection.
Chu Xinglan smiled slightly. It seemed she had become a huge third wheel. She should have known better than to come along.
"Miss Ming, please have a seat."
Paul extended his hand to Chu Xinglan in a polite gesture.
Chu Xinglan nodded.
Jasmine sat opposite Paul.
After taking their seats, Paul ordered his food, then rested his fingers on the table and looked at Chu Xinglan.
"Ms. Ming, thank you so much for becoming friends with Jasmine."
Chu Xinglan was startled.
Paul seemed to notice Chu Xinglan's confusion and continued, "Actually, Jasmine doesn't have any friends."
"How could that be?" Chu Xinglan asked, somewhat puzzled.
She has a great personality and is very gentle. She is always considerate of everyone's feelings. How could such a gentle and comfortable person not have friends?
"Jasmine always said that true friends are hard to find, and if you're going to make friends, make sure they're true friends. Other friends are fine, so it's not that she doesn't have friends, but that she doesn't want to make ordinary friends. But things have changed since she met you. She hit it off with you at first sight. I originally thought she would never make any friends in her life, so I'm thanking you for appearing in my life and for becoming her friend."
"Paul, don't tell Xinglan these things. Don't put pressure on her," Jasmine quickly interrupted Paul.
Paul simply held Jasmine's hand tightly and said sincerely, "Jasmine, you treat her as your only confidante, so I hope she feels the same way and treats you the same way."
Chu Xinglan looked at Paul, feeling touched.
Indeed, she and Jasmine had a feeling, but it was a questioning feeling. She thought that Jasmine approached her with ill intentions, but after hearing Paul say such sincere words, she felt very guilty about her previous thoughts.
"Jasmine, you treat me as a friend, so naturally I will treat you as a true friend in return," Chu Xinglan said sincerely, turning to look at Jasmine.
At this point, the waiter began serving the dishes.
“Let’s eat something first,” Paul said to them.
After dinner, Chu Xinglan and Jasmine discussed the script. Paul, a businessman, wasn't interested in acting, but his eyes were full of love when he looked at Jasmine. He was happy for her as she chatted freely with her friends.
"What would you two ladies like to drink?" Paul asked humorously.
"Give me a bubble tea, and give her a glass of plain water."
Jasmine spoke up, remembering that Chu Xinglan didn't like drinks.
Chu Xinglan looked up at Jasmine, wondering whether she should tell Jasmine the truth: she didn't drink those beverages outside because she was pregnant.
"I think the second female lead should be portrayed in this way to fit the character's personality in that context."
Jasmine struck a pose and made an expression.
It must be said that she has a high level of comprehension.
Chu Xinglan was somewhat impressed by her own abilities. Her attention was momentarily interrupted, and she stopped thinking about whether or not to tell Jasmine about her pregnancy.
"Yes, that's very good. You have a great talent," Chu Xinglan exclaimed.
"Compared to you, I still have some flaws."
The two of them, like theater enthusiasts, quickly became immersed in the performance.
Suddenly, Chu Xinglan's phone rang.
She saw on her phone screen that it was Gu Ye calling, and Chu Xinglan quickly answered.
"Baby, where are you?"
"I'm at the bubble tea shop," Chu Xinglan replied softly.
Jasmine watched Chu Xinglan, who was on the phone.
"I'll pick you up at that bubble tea shop."
"You're here again?" Chu Xinglan was startled and stood up from the sofa. She then lowered her voice and said, "Didn't I tell you not to come? It's such a long way, it's so tiring to drive back and forth."
"You know how to care about me now?" Gu Ye's voice sounded very pleased.
"Isn't that obvious? You're my husband, how could I not feel sorry for you?"
"I'm not leaving now that I'm here; I want to spend more time with you."
"Huh?" Chu Xinglan was taken aback.
This guy controls the businesses of these two families, and he still has time to spend with her?
"I've already checked into the hotel you're staying at," Gu Ye said with a smile.
This guy acted first and asked for permission later.
Where are you now? I'll come pick you up.
"Wait a minute," Chu Xinglan said to Gu Ye after glancing at the milk tea shop's sign.
"I'll be right there."
"Drive slowly," Chu Xinglan said, worried about him.
After hanging up the phone, Chu Xinglan said to Jasmine, feeling embarrassed, "My husband is here to pick me up."
"Then go ahead," Jasmine smiled.
"Shall I introduce my husband to you?" Chu Xinglan said happily.
"There will be opportunities to get to know each other in the future, so I won't go down," Jasmine said with a gentle smile.
Chu Xinglan didn't press her any further. She picked up her bag and said, "Then I'm leaving."
As Chu Xinglan was leaving, she ran into Paul, who was returning with a drink.
"Miss Ming, where are you going?"
"My husband is here to pick me up, I'm going downstairs now." Chu Xinglan waved goodbye to Paul and strode downstairs.
Just as Chu Xinglan reached the door, Gu Ye's car stopped in front of her.
Gu Ye got out of the car and hugged her tightly.
"Put me down, there are people everywhere here," Chu Xinglan said with a laugh.
"What's wrong with me hugging my wife?"
As Gu Ye was helping her fasten her seatbelt, he unexpectedly stole a kiss from her.
Chu Xinglan blushed and looked away.
"Have you had dinner yet?" Gu Ye asked with concern.
"I just ate with friends." Chu Xinglan glanced at Gu Ye. "You probably haven't eaten yet."
"I'm waiting to eat you." Gu Ye's eyes seemed to hold a thousand tender feelings.
"Let's... go get something to eat first," Chu Xinglan said, her face flushed.
"I'll listen to you!" Gu Ye's heart trembled slightly, but he could only suppress it. He couldn't let hunger weaken his fighting strength; that would be such a disappointment.
On the top floor of the building in front of them, Jasmine and Paul watched the interaction between Chu Xinglan and Gu Ye below through the transparent glass.
Paul put his hand on Jasmine's shoulder, but Jasmine gently pushed him away.
Paul turned around and looked at Jasmine strangely.
“I… let’s go back.” Jasmine smiled gently at Paul.
"Why aren't you driving yet?" Chu Xinglan looked at Gu Ye curiously.
"How about a small dish to start?" Gu Ye smiled ambiguously.
Chu Xinglan blushed and pretended to be angry, saying, "Don't you want to go home quickly?"
"Alright, my dear wife is in a hurry to go home, so I'll just have to be patient a little longer."
Seeing Chu Xinglan's shy expression, Gu Ye started the car with satisfaction.
