Chapter 338 Terror Descends, Survival in Desperate Circumstances
Inside the passage, the increasingly deep and terrifying roar, like an invisible force, pressed down on the nerves of Huanmo and the others. The surrounding air seemed to solidify under this force, becoming unusually heavy. Dust on the walls on both sides of the passage also fell in a rustling sound due to the tremors.
Huanmo's heart pounded in his chest. He gripped his sword tightly, his knuckles turning white. He thought to himself, "This roar is so terrifying; the one who comes must be an extremely powerful being. Compared to it, all the dangers we've faced before are perhaps insignificant. But we cannot back down. The divine artifact is ahead; we must persevere no matter what." He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, his gaze fixed firmly on the depths of the passage.
Yi Chen frowned, a hint of seriousness in his eyes. He whispered to Huan Mo, "Huan Mo, this opponent is probably far beyond our expectations. The passage is narrow, which is extremely disadvantageous for us. We need to come up with a solution as soon as possible." As he spoke, he gripped his spear tighter, leaned forward slightly, and prepared for battle at any moment.
The woman in white was slightly pale. She bit her lip, her hands gripping the ribbon tightly, trying to suppress her inner fear. Her voice trembled slightly as she said, "We'll face it together; we'll definitely find its weakness." Despite her inner unease, she forced herself to remain calm, attempting to reassure her companions.
As the roar grew closer, the mist deep within the passage began to churn violently, as if stirred by an invisible hand. Suddenly, a colossal figure slowly emerged from the mist. It was a gigantic monster, its body covered in black scales that gleamed with an eerie light. Its head was enormous, adorned with several ferocious horns, and its mouth gaped open, revealing two rows of sharp fangs, each as large as a dagger. Its limbs were thick and powerful; with each step it took, the ground trembled, and cracks appeared in the walls of the passage.
Huanmo and the others stared wide-eyed at the terrifying monster, a wave of despair washing over them. "This monster is so powerful, can we really defeat it?" Huanmo wondered to himself, but he quickly shook his head, banishing the thought. "We can't give up, we still have a chance."
The monster let out a deafening roar and charged towards Huanmo and the others. Huanmo shouted, "Scatter!" The three of them quickly dodged to the sides of the passage. The monster's body grazed past them, creating a strong gust of wind that nearly knocked them over.
After regaining his footing, Huanmo quickly turned around and swung his sword at the monster's back. However, the monster's scales were incredibly hard; the sword only left a shallow scratch, and the impact even made Huanmo's arm go numb. The monster roared in pain and swung its massive claws at Huanmo. Huanmo quickly dodged to the side, the claws grazing his clothes and leaving a long gash.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Yi Chen launched an attack from the monster's side. He leaped high into the air, thrusting his spear towards the monster's leg. The monster noticed Yi Chen's attack and quickly raised its leg, kicking Yi Chen away. Yi Chen tumbled several times in the air before crashing heavily to the ground, a trickle of blood escaping from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing Yichen injured, the woman in white was greatly alarmed and brandished her ribbon, trying to entangle the monster. The ribbon swirled in the air, attempting to wrap around the monster's neck. But the monster reacted swiftly, violently shaking its head to fling the ribbon away, while its tail swept across, knocking the woman in white to the ground.
Huanmo looked at his injured companion, his heart filled with anger and anxiety. "We can't let it continue attacking like this!" he shouted, while his mind raced, searching for a solution.
Just then, he suddenly noticed that although the monster's eyes were enormous, its pupils were very small, and it seemed quite sensitive to light. When he swung his sword earlier, the light reflected from the blade had caused the monster to squint slightly. "Perhaps this is its weakness!" A thought struck Huanmo, and he quickly shared this discovery with his companions.
Upon hearing this, a glimmer of hope flashed in Yi Chen's and the woman in white's eyes. Suppressing their pain, they stood up again, preparing to launch another attack.
Huanmo took out a crystalline stone from his pocket, the one he had obtained from the light on the stone platform earlier. The stone shimmered faintly in his hand. He held the stone high and shouted, "Everyone, cooperate with me and attract its attention!"
Yi Chen and the woman in white nodded and began to draw the monster's attention from both sides. Attracted by their movements, the monster turned its attack towards them. Huan Mo seized the opportunity to circle behind the monster, aimed the stone in her hand at its eyes, and threw it forcefully.
The stone, gleaming with light, struck the monster precisely in the eye. The monster roared in pain, its body thrashing wildly. Stung by the light, its eyes became erratic, and its attacks lost their aim.
Huanmo and the others seized the opportunity and launched their attacks. Huanmo swung his sword, slashing at the monster's legs; Yichen thrust his spear at the monster's abdomen; and the woman in white danced with her ribbons, binding the monster's arms and rendering it immobile.
With their combined efforts, the monster gradually lost its strength, swayed a few times, and finally collapsed to the ground, no longer moving.
Huanmo and the others breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground, their clothes soaked with a mixture of sweat and blood.
They rested for a while and were preparing to continue when a dazzling light suddenly emanated from the end of the passage, and something mysterious seemed to be hidden within the light.
Huanmo's heart skipped a beat; he knew that this might be where the divine artifact was located. However, just as they were about to walk towards the light, some strange characters suddenly appeared on the walls of the passage. The characters flickered with a red light, as if warning them of something.
What secrets do these strange characters hold? Is the light at the end of the passage truly a divine artifact? What new crises will Huanmo and his companions encounter as they approach their target? Everything remains unknown, waiting for them to explore.
