Chapter 279 279: Pokémon Are Not Tools
Sam's face darkened with anger. Piloswine's behavior felt like a direct provocation toward Tyranitar.
A Pokémon less than one-tenth of Tyranitar's size had actually chosen to confront it head-on with pure strength. To Tyranitar, this was complete humiliation.
"Tyranitar, use Giga Impact," Sam said coldly.
If he backed down in a direct clash at a moment like this, even Sam would look down on himself.
The instant the command was given, Tyranitar let out a furious roar and shot forward like a missile.
Its speed was so terrifying that the tearing air produced a piercing whistle.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, the two Pokémon collided in the center of the battlefield.
The sky itself seemed ready to split apart. The shockwave from the collision nearly blew away Ash and the others watching from a distance.
"Brock, are we really just going to stand here and watch?" Ash asked anxiously.
The battle was still escalating, and the destruction continued spreading outward from the battlefield. Everything nearby was being reduced to ruins.
Brock, who knew Ash better than anyone, immediately frowned.
"Ash, this isn't a battle we can interfere with."
But Ash only grinned.
"It's okay. Entei, Raikou, Suicune, and Zoroark will help us."
As he spoke, Ash looked toward the Pokémon beside him.
Entei, Raikou, and Suicune exchanged glances before nodding. As the guardians of Crown City, they had no desire to see the city destroyed and were willing to lend their power.
As for Zoroark, Ash had rescued Zorua before, so it naturally chose to follow Ash's lead.
Brock originally wanted to stop him, but after seeing Tyranitar's worsening condition on the battlefield, he finally relented.
The situation for Sam and Tyranitar was terrible—truly terrible.
Although Tyranitar held the advantage in size over Piloswine, it gained almost no advantage in the actual battle.
It was hard to imagine how such a small Pokémon could possess both overwhelming power and incredible speed. Pryce's Piloswine could only be described as monstrous.
Fire Punch. Ice Punch.
Tyranitar continuously swung its fists, trying to pressure Piloswine, but Piloswine's agile movements rendered everything useless.
It effortlessly dodged Tyranitar's attacks while occasionally seizing openings to strike back hard, making Tyranitar increasingly frustrated.
If this continued, Tyranitar's defeat would only be a matter of time.
At that moment, three streams of energy—ice, fire, and lightning—suddenly attacked from behind.
They came from Suicune, Entei, and Raikou respectively.
The guardians of Ho-Oh had finally joined the battle.
Under normal circumstances, Pryce wouldn't have cared much about them. Even Ho-Oh itself had once been defeated by him, so the mere guardians posed little threat in his eyes.
But this situation was far from normal.
Pryce had to admit that Sam was the most troublesome opponent he had ever encountered.
Although Tyranitar was still not truly capable of defeating Piloswine, it was only a matter of time. Tyranitar's talent was obvious to anyone watching. Even during the battle, Pryce could clearly sense its rapid growth.
Sooner or later, Tyranitar would surpass Piloswine.
First, Piloswine had suffered Gengar's Curse, then it had endured a prolonged battle against Tyranitar. Under those conditions, the arrival of the guardians of Ho-Oh caused the balance of victory to begin shifting toward Sam and Tyranitar.
And it still wasn't over.
The ones joining the battle weren't only the guardians of Ho-Oh.
There was also Ash.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
Piloswine barely dodged Pikachu's Thunderbolt.
Looking at the exhausted Piloswine, now surrounded from all sides and breathing heavily, Ash shouted angrily at Pryce:
"What are you trying to do?! Why are you trying to capture Celebi?! Is it just to satisfy your ambitions?!"
"Ambitions?" Looking at the furious boy before him, Pryce gave a contemptuous smile.
He felt that Ash understood nothing.
Enraged by Pryce's attitude, Ash shouted again:
"Look at your Piloswine! What exactly are Pokémon to you?!"
Facing Ash's anger and sensing the fury in his heart, Pryce finally spoke.
"What are Pokémon?"
"Pokémon are merely tools. They are nothing more than tools to fulfill my ambitions."
Those words completely ignited Ash's anger.
He could no longer suppress the rage in his heart.
In Ash's eyes, calling Pokémon mere tools was absolutely unforgivable.
Especially when Piloswine was burning away everything it had for Pryce.
