Chapter 1153: Ambush
Chapter 1153: Ambush
"Don’t use the name of the Ancestral God to pressure people! If the Ancestral God is unjust, why should I show respect to him?" Seeing Zhuo Geng put this large hat on him, Fafnir retorted with dissatisfaction in his heart."Where is the Ancestral God unjust? The Ancestral God protects both races while always mediating our conflicts. It’s just that we cannot see through it. Who can say they are right in this battle after all these years? Our father died at the hands of the Daoist Race, but before that, he attacked the wedding banquet of the Daoist Dragon Race lineage and the Golden Roc Lineage. Their clan leader also died at our hands. Aren’t there fewer such battles between us? How many generations have perished in these meaningless battles? The Ancestral God is right; the Spirit Monster Plane is big enough and has enough space for both races to develop together. What are we still fighting for?"
Seeing Fafnir fall silent at his words, Zhuo Geng continued, "You just mentioned Ladon! Yes, he was killed by the Daoist Race, but his death could have been avoided! Wasn’t it you who acted recklessly and ambushed the Daoist Race’s negotiating team, causing the just-relaxing situation to break down again? Ladon died in one of their retaliatory actions afterwards."
"In your eyes, everything is my fault! It’s all my doing! I fought desperately for my race and ended up being driven and hunted." Fafnir’s roar accompanied by dragon aura made his voice echo in Half Moon Valley.
"That’s your own doing!" Zhuo Geng pointed at his own chest and roared back, "Look at my wounds. Don’t think you’re the only one bleeding and sacrificing for the clan. In the end, you only care about yourself, putting your personal desires above the entire clan!"
At this point, seeing Fafnir about to retort, Zhuo Geng directly pointed to his son, Salafam, behind him, saying, "Don’t see yourself as the victim, thinking how wronged you are! How many years have you defected from the Dragon Realm! Aside from the Daoist Race chasing you relentlessly, has your own race laid hands on you heavily? Do you really think your actions were flawless? How many times! How many times! We knew your hiding places and didn’t act, letting you leave, for what? Wasn’t it because you once contributed a little to the clan, because you are my brother, we share blood! Even my son continues to call you uncle! What did we get in return for this?"
Zhuo Geng’s heartfelt words made Fafnir, as well as all the present members of the Dark Race, bow their heads in shame. They too experienced these instances of their clan turning a blind eye during past pursuits.
"For this, I faced numerous inquiries from the Daoist Race, yet I endured them for the sake of kinship. Fafnir, among the defectors, you are not the strongest or most prestigious, but the most heartbreaking to me." Unable to control his emotions at this point, Zhuo Geng’s eyes brimmed with tears as he continued, "Because I never expected my indulgence would lead to your increasing madness! You not only sided with outsiders to harm the Ancestral God, you even dared to harm my child! Lorna, my daughter, your niece! While she was still a young dragon, you and your altered associates turned her into something neither human nor ghost..."
Emotionally charged, Zhuo Geng, hand pointing at Fafnir, couldn’t utter the word "monster" for a long time, finally clenched his teeth and roared angrily, "How could you do it!"
"I wasn’t aware of the pursuit beforehand!" Fafnir, also confronted with painful memories, shouted in anguish, revealing secrets buried for years, "This wasn’t the result I wanted; problems occurred during the capture by subordinates, mistakenly sweeping the area she was in, and before informing me, handed her over to Blood Shred. By the time I realized it was too late, so in that insignificant cross-plane assault, I let her go, and even marked her to confirm her identity so those fools in the Investigation Commission could discover and save her back! The ones who made the mistake have been dealt with by me."
"Should I thank you then?" Zhuo Geng sneered sarcastically, "Mistaken capture? Fine, I believe you weren’t heartless in capturing my daughter, but what about other clanspeople? The Dragon Realm alone, after investigation has 276 missing clansmen, and that’s only our Dragon Race! Where have you taken them all? Offering them to your new master?"
"Brother, given the current circumstances, I still call you elder brother, but it’s pointless to discuss so much now, I’ve just seen the future unfold clearly. With the Ancestral God and the current Dragon Realm, it’s impossible to lead the clansmen further." Fafnir, pressed by questions, found himself unable to argue further, not wishing to debate these issues with his elder brother anymore. Now calculating, the delay has been sufficient, silently signaling his men to begin action.
"If not us, then you? Fafnir, take a look at yourself now. You can’t even leave this valley today, and you’re talking to me about the future!" Hearing this, Zhuo Geng, enraged, laughed sarcastically.
"Haha, Zhuo Geng, who in this Half Moon Gorge will escape today is uncertain!"
As soon as Fafnir finished speaking, Zhuo Geng’s group keenly sensed drastic changes surrounding space fluctuations. Not only were their own spatial restrictions outside, but multiple alien spatial restrictions descended upon them. Based on the scale and effect, these seemed to rival what they had set up.
While the surrounded Dragon Race wondered why more obstacles were added, making their escape harder, multiple layers of space fluctuations again stirred within the gorge. Terrifying source energy breath surged, as its owners emerged from space fissures, with Zhuo Geng’s people turning grim.
"Father, it’s a trap! That person was the one who twice gravely injured brother!" Despite the unwilling scene unfolding, though bitter, Salafam knew there was no retreating now. Scanning the crowd, he first identified Nero, their leader, and pointed out.
"I see him!" Dragon King Zhuo Geng instructed quietly, "The opponent used a Spatial Divine Artifact to hide their tracks deceiving you and Hydra’s reconnaissance, obviously they are after me! Hydra, prepare to break through, Salafam, send a message to the Dragon Realm seeking backup."
"Understood."
"Father, all our external signals were cut off. It seems the troops stationed outside the valley watching might likely meet the opponent’s deadly hands." After using dragon race remote communication Secret Technique to contact the reserved troops outside and failing to transmit the message, Salafam looked at his father in disappointment.
